How to Watch Election Night 2026 on a Mac: Follow CNN, Fox News, NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, and C-SPAN Live Streams at Once on One Screen

Election night 2026 on a Mac: free streams and start times for CNN, NBC, Fox, PBS, ABC and CBS, poll closing times, and every network on one screen.

A Mac window with several live news tiles and a results map, with network names as plain text labels.

To watch election night 2026 on a Mac, put every free network stream in its own tile in one window, let one tile talk at a time, and keep a results map beside them. Polls begin closing at 6 p.m. ET on Tuesday, November 3, and the major networks have announced their plans: CNN starts at 4 p.m. ET, NBC at 5, Fox and PBS at 6, and ABC and CBS at 7. NBC News NOW is free on YouTube, and CBS's main coverage streams on YouTube from 7 p.m. ET.

Election night on one screen: the short answer

Results arrive state by state over about eight hours, every network has its own anchors, maps and decision desk, and the interesting moment is often a race you were not watching. A browser with eight tabs buries the stream you wanted.

We built Plush for exactly this kind of viewing. It is a native Mac app that holds up to three tiles in one window for free, or eight with Plush Pro, mixes the web, local files and Apple Music, and decides which tile you hear. This guide covers what is free and what needs a login, when the polls close, a 4-tile and an 8-tile layout, a setup you can finish this week, and how to follow official results.

This guide is nonpartisan by design. It is about how to watch, not what to think. We name networks in plain text only, we have no partnership with any of them, and we say nothing about candidates, parties or predictions.

What is free and what needs a login

This is the part to check first, because it decides what goes in your tiles. The table uses each network's own announcements, and "2026 status" tells you what is actually known today.

CNN's own history shows how fast this changes: free in 2024, subscribers only in 2025, and in 2026 a subscriber stream for the main coverage plus a free 7 p.m. show on YouTube. Check each network's page on the day.

More free streams announced. The Desk lists The Hill from 7 p.m. to midnight ET on YouTube and its website, The National News Desk from 8 p.m. to midnight ET on YouTube, and Noticias Telemundo in Spanish from 7 p.m. ET, free on YouTube. Adweek lists six hours on Scripps News from 6 p.m. ET.

For CNN and Fox News full coverage, we do not promise that any paid stream plays inside a Plush tile. If your subscription works in a browser, sign in on the site inside the tile. If a service refuses to play, use it in Safari and keep the free streams in Plush.

Free YouTube tiles. CBS News, NBC News NOW, the Kornacki Cam and CNN Office Hours all stream on YouTube, and so does ABC News Live. YouTube is on Plush's built-in list, so they load with no Add Site step. Three tiles are free, which is a complete free setup, and Plush Pro takes you to eight.

The announced 2026 times, all Eastern, run like this: CNN and C-SPAN at 4 p.m., NBC and Peacock at 5 p.m. (most NBC stations join at 6:30), CBS's Nerd Show at 5 p.m., the Kornacki Cam at 5:30, Fox News, MS NOW (formerly MSNBC), PBS News and Scripps News at 6 p.m., and ABC, CBS's main coverage, CNN Office Hours, NewsNation and Bloomberg at 7 p.m. PBS stations set their own broadcast times, so some join later.

What time do polls close on November 3, 2026?

Daylight saving time ends on Sunday, November 1, so on election night the East Coast is on Eastern Standard Time. All times below are Eastern. The summary follows 270toWin's poll closing times, and the same site has a local-time map if you want your own zone.

Time (ET)Where polls close
6 p.m.Eastern-time portions of Indiana and Kentucky
7 p.m.Georgia, South Carolina, Vermont, Virginia, most of Florida, and the rest of Indiana and Kentucky
7:30 p.m.North Carolina, Ohio, West Virginia

10 p.m.Montana, Nevada, Utah, plus Mountain-time parts of Idaho and Oregon
11 p.m.California, Washington, plus Pacific-time parts of Idaho and Oregon

Timeline of poll closing times on November 3, 2026 in Eastern Time, from 6 p.m. through 1 a.m., with the states that close at each hour.
Election night as a timeline, in Eastern Time. Most of the action lands between 7 and 11 p.m.

Two cautions. Many polling places in New Hampshire close earlier than the statewide time, and individual local polling places can close earlier than the times listed. Your county or state election office has the hours for your own precinct.

The first big wave of states closes between 7 and 9 p.m. ET, so that is when you want the most tiles. After 11 p.m., one or two tiles plus the results map is usually enough.

Why one window beats eight browser tabs

You can watch election night without any special software, and for many people that is the right call. Here are the honest free options.

  • Multiple browser windows. Open each stream in its own window and arrange them yourself. It works, but windows overlap, and every stream tries to play sound at once.
  • Split View. macOS Split View puts two windows side by side. It is a good fit for two networks, and it stops at two.
  • Safari Picture in Picture. Apple documents a floating video window in Safari, which suits keeping one stream over your work.

Where Plush helps is scale: up to eight streams in tidy tiles (three free, eight with Plush Pro), one controlled audio source, a saved layout, and a results page in the same window as the video.

Up to eight streams in one Plush window

A Plush window holds up to three tiles for free and up to eight with Plush Pro. Each tile can be a website, a local file or Apple Music. For election night, that means every network's free stream can be live at the same time, in a grid, on one display.

Eight tiles in one window. The screenshot shows sample content, not news.

You change the tile count from the sidebar, which you open with ⌘\. Start with three, or four with Plush Pro. You can always add more at 8 p.m. ET, when the busiest hour begins.

One important honesty point: Plush does not open every address with no setup. YouTube is on its built-in list, so any network that streams on YouTube loads right away. Network sites such as cbsnews.com, nbcnews.com, abcnews.com, pbs.org, c-span.org, cnn.com and fox.com are not on the built-in list. You add each one once, and the next section shows how.

Two layouts: four tiles and eight tiles

The 4-tile layout for a laptop

Use one hero tile for your main network, two more networks along the side, and a results map. Make sure at least one of the networks is a free stream.

The 8-tile layout for a big display

On a large monitor or a TV connected to your Mac, go to eight. A sample lineup:

  • CBS News and NBC News NOW, free and both on YouTube
  • ABC News Live
  • PBS News and C-SPAN, for a calmer, less produced look at the same night
  • CNN and Fox News, if your subscription or login works in a browser
  • A results map page that you add as a site

Make your main network big

Plush Pro's Hero layout gives one tile most of the window and tucks the others around it. Switch from Grid to Hero in the sidebar and the tile with the audio lock becomes the big one. To give another network more room, drag the dividers between tiles.

Set up Plush before November 3

Do not do this at 6:55 p.m. on election night. Do it this week, then run a short test on a normal news day.

  1. Install Plush. It is free on the Mac App Store and runs on macOS 14 or later. Plush Pro, a one-time $2.99 upgrade with no subscription, unlocks the 4 to 8 tile layouts used below. There is no account.
  2. Load a YouTube-based stream. Click an empty tile, choose Website, and pick YouTube from the built-in cards. Go to the network's live stream page.
  3. Add a network site. Click another empty tile, choose Website, and type the address, for example cbsnews.com/live. Plush shows "cbsnews.com is not a supported streaming site." Click Add Site. The site is allowed from then on, and the page loads right away.
  4. Repeat for the other networks. Do this for abcnews.com, nbcnews.com, pbs.org and c-span.org. For CNN and Fox News, add cnn.com or fox.com the same way, then sign in on the site if your subscription works in a browser. Plush's Stay Signed In option keeps web tile logins between launches.
  5. Add a results map. Use another Website tile for the results page you like, such as a map from your state election office or a public results site. Add its domain the same way.
  6. Pick a layout. Set the tile count with the sidebar stepper, then choose Grid or, with Plush Pro, Hero.
  7. Choose a sound mode. The next section explains the choices.
  8. Save the session (Plush Pro). Open Sessions in the sidebar, choose Save Current Session, and name it Election Night. It stores the layout, tile addresses, sound mode and ambient level. It does not store playback positions, and Plush starts empty on a fresh launch, so load the session each time.
  9. Test it. Open the session on a day with a live news stream running. If a stream refuses to play in a tile, swap it for another or watch it in Safari.

Audio: only one network talks at a time

Eight anchors talking at once is noise. Plush has three sound modes, in the sidebar.

  • Focus. Only the tile you hover or select plays sound. Double-click a tile to lock the sound to it.
  • Adaptive (Plush Pro). The focused tile plays at full volume, and the others stay at a low ambient level. The default is 15 percent, and you can set it anywhere from 0 to 50 percent.
  • Chaos (Plush Pro). Every tile plays at once. We recommend it only as a joke.
Plush Focus mode with a four-tile grid where audio follows the tile you select.
Audio follows the tile you choose. The screenshot shows other content, not news.

For election night, we suggest Adaptive at 10 to 15 percent. You hear your main network clearly and catch a change of tone from the others, such as a sudden shift to a race call. Move the sound by hovering over, or double-clicking, another tile. You can also set per-tile volume, and press M for master mute when the phone rings.

Keep it over your work

If you are working or following along in a spreadsheet, press ⇧⌘P for Pin on Top. The Plush window floats above your other apps, so you can shrink it into a corner. It resets when you quit, so it takes one press each time. Plush does not offer Picture in Picture, and we are not claiming it does.

A night plan you can copy

  1. Before 5 p.m. ET. Load the session. Check each tile and sign in where needed. CNN and C-SPAN start at 4.
  2. 5 to 7 p.m. ET. The Nerd Show starts at 5 and the Kornacki Cam at 5:30. With NBC News NOW, that's three free YouTube tiles, which fit the free version with Focus sound. Polls begin closing at 6, when Fox News and PBS News start.
  3. 7 to 11 p.m. ET. ABC and CBS's main coverage start at 7, along with CNN Office Hours on YouTube. Go to Hero layout with Adaptive sound, or eight tiles on a big display (all Plush Pro), and compare how different desks handle the same race as the calls come in.
  4. After 11 p.m. ET. Drop back to two or three tiles, add the West Coast, and keep the results map visible.

How to follow official results

Networks are fast, and they are not the final word. Two references help you keep your footing.

Race calls

The Associated Press calls races, and many TV networks also run their own decision desks and make their own projections. According to NPR's explainer on race calls, NPR relies on AP's calls, and AP says a race is ready to be called only when the answer to "Can the trailing candidates catch the leader?" is an unquestionable no. NPR notes that AP does not "project" winners the way many TV networks do, so its results may take longer. Watching several desks side by side is a neutral way to see when they call the same race and when they differ.

Official counts

The official count belongs to your state election office. The Election Assistance Commission's Register and Vote in Your State page lists election office contacts by state, and NASS provides state election office links. Put your state's results page in a tile, and you have the source of record next to the broadcasts.

Honest limits

  • Network sites need a one-time Add Site. Only YouTube is built in among these.
  • Paid services. A tile loads the site much as a browser does, and the service decides what plays. We do not promise that any paid or login-gated stream plays in a tile. Account stream limits still apply.
  • Plans can change. The times here come from each network's announcement or from trade-press reports as of October 30, and PBS stations set their own broadcast times, so check the network's page on the day.
  • Fresh launches. Plush starts empty each time. Load your saved session after opening it.

Frequently asked questions

What time does election night coverage start on November 3?

Announced times, all Eastern: CNN and C-SPAN at 4 p.m., NBC and Peacock at 5 p.m. (most NBC stations at 6:30), CBS's Nerd Show at 5, the Kornacki Cam at 5:30, Fox News and PBS News at 6, and ABC, CBS's main coverage and NewsNation at 7. PBS stations set their own broadcast times.

Can I watch election results for free?

Yes, in most cases. CBS's main coverage streams on YouTube from 7 p.m. ET, NBC News NOW is free (it's on YouTube too), the Kornacki Cam streams on YouTube from 5:30 p.m. ET, and CNN Office Hours streams on YouTube from 7. ABC's special streams on ABC News Live, which is free, PBS News streams its coverage on its own site from 6, and NewsNation streams free from 7. CNN's and Fox News's full live coverage need a subscription or pay-TV login.

Is there an election night multiview?

Peacock's multiview starts at 5:30 p.m. ET and combines NBC News NOW, the Kornacki Cam and a real-time results board. Peacock is a paid service, and NBC doesn't say whether the multiview needs a paid plan. On a Mac you can build your own multiview across networks, for example CBS, NBC News NOW and the Kornacki Cam in three free Plush tiles.

What time do polls close on election night 2026?

They begin closing at 6 p.m. ET on November 3, 2026, when the Eastern-time portions of Indiana and Kentucky close. The biggest wave is 7 to 9 p.m. ET, and the last mainland states close at 11 p.m. ET. Hawaii and most of Alaska close at midnight ET.

Can I watch CNN without cable on election night?

Partly. In 2024 its election-night stream was available without a pay-TV login, and in 2025 the livecast was for CNN All Access subscribers, which TheWrap reported at $6.99 a month or $69.99 a year (with a reduced launch rate) and is free to people who get CNN through a cable package. For November 3, 2026, CNN says subscribers can stream the live special coverage, and its 7 p.m. ET "CNN Office Hours" show streams on YouTube and TikTok.

How do I watch two news channels at once on a Mac?

Use two browser windows or macOS Split View for two. For more, a multi-tile app helps. In Plush, put each stream in its own tile and use Focus (free) or Adaptive (Plush Pro) sound so only one is loud. Our guide to watching multiple videos with one audio covers the method.

Can I watch CNN and Fox News at the same time?

Technically yes, if you can sign in to both in a browser. Full live coverage from each may require a subscription or pay-TV login. Plush can hold both in tiles, but we do not promise that any paid stream plays in a tile.

Who calls the races?

The Associated Press calls races, and many TV networks also run their own decision desks. Official results come from state election offices, so keep your state's results page open as the reference.

Does Plush work with network websites?

Yes, after a one-time step. YouTube is built in. For a network site, type its address in a Website tile, and when Plush says it is not a supported streaming site, click Add Site.

Plush Media Player is free on the Mac App Store, and Plush Pro is a one-time $2.99 with no subscription and no account. Build your Election Night session this week, test it on a regular news day, and November 3 gets a lot easier to follow.
